Dance Lessons in Mississauga: All Ages and All Levels

Dance is good for everyone, whether you’ve recently learned to toddle or you just want to release some steam after a stressful day at work. At The Dance Corps, we cater to students from age 2 to 13 and also to adults. Here’s a listing of the levels of classes we offer:

Pre-Dance - Age 2

This level is for dancers who are 2 years of age. It is an introduction to the basic movement of dance. Classes are 30 minutes long.

Pre-School - Ages 3-4

Classes offered are: jazz, tap and ballet. Classes are 30 minutes long.

Kinder - Ages 5-6

Classes offered are: jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop I and acro. Classes are 45 minutes long.

Pre-Junior - Ages 7-9

Classes offered are: jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop II and acro. Classes are 45 minutes long.

Junior - Ages 10-12

Classes offered are: jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop III and acro. Classes are 45 minutes long.

Inter - Ages 10-12

This level is for dancers ages 10-12 who have at least 3 years of previous dance experience at the junior level. Classes offered are: jazz, tap, hip hop III and ballet. Classes are 45 minutes long.

Teen - Ages 13 & Up

Classes offered are: jazz, tap, hip hop IV and ballet. Beginner students 13 and up wishing to take acro will be put into either Junior Acro or Pre-Senior acro, depending on their ability level. Classes are 45 minutes long.

Pre-Senior - Ages 13 & Up

This level is for dancers ages 13 and up who have at least 3 years of previous dance experience at the teen level. Classes offered are: jazz, tap, ballet, acro, hip hop IV and lyrical. Classes are 45 minutes long.


To get the full benefit of any dance class, it’s important to show up in clothes that don’t restrict your movement. After years of experience, The Dance Corps is able to offer these tips on what to wear for the many different classes we offer.

Girls’ Dance Attire

Ballet

Students may wear any style black or navy blue bodysuit, pink ballet tights or white ankle socks and pink ballet slippers. Pre-Dance, Pre-School and Kinder dancers may also wear pink bodysuits and ballet skirts. Once dancers reach the Pre-Junior level of ballet (7-9 years of age), a ballet skirt is no longer allowed in class. Hair is to be pulled back off of the face in either a bun or ponytail, braid etc.

Jazz, Tap, Acro, Lyrical

Students may wear any colour or style of DANCE WEAR. Tight-fitting shorts or dance pants may also be worn in these classes; however, NO T-SHIRTS, SWEATSHIRTS OR TRACK PANTS will be permitted. Hair is to be pulled back in either a bun or ponytail, braid etc. Please check with teacher or administrator before purchasing dance shoes.

Hip Hop

Students must wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. We require indoor sneakers with non-marking soles and hair pulled back away from face. NO JEANS.

Boys’ Dance Attire

Ballet

Students must wear black shorts and a white t-shirt with white socks and black ballet shoes.





Jazz, Tap, Acro, Lyrical

Students may wear any colour shorts or fitted dance pants paired with a tank top or t-shirt. Please check with teacher or administrator before purchasing dance shoes.



Hip Hop

Students must wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. We require indoor sneakers with non-marking soles. NO JEANS.
