Over the last 10+ years, The Dance Corps has risen to become one of the top competition studios in the GTA. We pride ourselves on providing expert dance training and a positive learning experience for all involved.
What Makes Us Great
We attribute our leadership in competitive dance education to our structured rules and policies. Company classes are by invitation only, and students will be placed in the company that best suits their age and ability. Our studio will compete at 4 to 5 regional competitions each year, and all advanced companies will attend a mandatory U.S. national competition every second year.
COMPETITIVE LEVELS
Pre-Competitive
This class prepares dancers who show potential or those who wish to try a competitive style class to see if company dancing is something they wish to pursue. It is a technique-based class where no recital routine is taught. It is run with the same commitment expectations as all of the other competitive classes. Being a member of the Pre-Competitive program does not ensure a place on our competitive team the following season. Pre-Competitive students must also be enrolled in a ballet class and a recreational jazz class. Fees for Pre-Competitive are the same as recreational class fees.
Company and Advanced Company
The Dance Corps has 10 company levels at this time. All company dancers must train the same number of hours as all the dancers in their group. Mandatory classes are as follows: Technique, Turns, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro or Tap, and Lyrical where applicable. Dancers who do not take both Acro and Tap must pick up an extra class to cover the training time. Dancers must take all the ballet classes offered for their level. Dancers who miss a technique class are obligated to find a make-up class within the schedule and attend it within 2 weeks of the missed class.
